Laura McHugh Soprano

AWARD-WINNING SOPRANO IN BOSTON, NYC & BEYOND

Laura McHugh, an award-winning soprano "ready for heavenly ascent" (Boston Musical Intelligencer) lauded for her "superb, floating" sound (Melrose Free Press), recently won 1st Place in the Classical Singer National Competition, 1st Place in the Vermont Vocal Competition, and 2nd Place in Classical Idol (VOX New England).

Known for her penchant for "hilarious interpretation" (Voce di Meche), as well as her stratospheric high notes, she recently created comedic roles in two World Premiere Operas: The Reaper in Reap What You Soul (a '90s pop-diva inspired take on the Angel of Death), and Hannah in Non Motus (who panics when nature inevitably calls during an extended traffic jam).

This season, Laura's appearances range from opera, to musical theatre, to oratorio, while maintaining a strong focus in new music, both in her native Boston & beyond

MRS. FEZZIWIG IN A CHARLES DICKENS' A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Journey back to Victorian England and experience Dickens' heart-warming story brought to brilliant life! Commonwealth Shakespeare Company brings a dazzling new production of Dickens' timeless tale to Boston's Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre.

In this spectacular adaptation of the iconic tale by award-winning writer/director Steve Wargo, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is infused with carols from Dickens' era in lush arrangements by Dianne Adams MacDowell (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder). Directed by CSC's Founding Artistic Director Steven Mater and Music Directed by Dan Rodriguez, this new holiday tradition is sure to bring joy to audiences of all ages!
